About Counselling

What is counselling and how can it help me?

What is counselling?

We all experience times of difficulty in our lives, when events or relationships feel overwhelming, Sometimes we can feel a loss of direction or purpose. Counselling is space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours with a trained professional. It can help you to develop a better understanding of yourself and others, making sense of your world and your place in it.

A counsellor won't judge you, give you advice or tell you what to do. They will help you navigate a way through difficulties and find your own solutions - whether that means making changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.

How can counselling help?

Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. As a counsellor my role is to provide space and support to help you examine your life and make new, meaningful choices, which are right for you.

I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together, we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.
